We built the Periodic Table: Interactive 3D to be used without giving anything up. There is nothing to sign up for, and we do not collect personal information about you.
This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to information when you use the Periodic Table on the web (theperiodictable.org) or as an app for iOS and Android.
Nothing that identifies you. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details. We do not use analytics or tracking tools, we do not show ads, and we do not set cookies. The app itself does not send what you search for, which elements you open or how you use it to us or to anyone else.
In the iOS and Android apps, the language you choose is saved on your device so the app opens in the same language next time. It is never sent to us. Deleting the app removes it. On the website, the language is part of the page address, so nothing is stored at all.
Like every website, our pages have to be delivered over the internet. When your browser loads them, a few services receive the standard technical information that any web request contains, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested:
We do not use this information to identify or track you, and we never combine it with anything else.
When you tap the speaker icon, the element's name is read aloud by the speech engine built into your device or browser. Some browsers use online voices. In that case, the browser sends the word being spoken to its maker's speech service (for example Google or Apple). This happens under your browser's own privacy policy, and we never receive it.
Some links take you to other sites, such as Wikipedia, a Google search about an element's discovery, the App Store or Google Play. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
The Android app asks only for internet access, which it needs to open links. Neither app asks for your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
The Periodic Table is suitable for learners of all ages. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect any from children, including children under 13.
If we change how the Periodic Table handles information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
